Continuing the series in the same format as Lost Railways of Northern Ireland, this book represents a balanced photographic overview of the railways of County
Dublin and the south east of Ireland. As with the books covering Northern Ireland, the author has done well in his sourcing of material in that very few if any of the
'classics' appear. Brief historical details are given for each line with the date of closure for any stations no longer open.
The quality of reproduction, an issue with previous publications in this series, has improved and this is to be welcomed. Minor points to note are the references to
Howth as an island (originally, yes but not in railway days) and the photo on the last page appears to be Woodenbridge looking north and not Avoca. Given the size of
Dublin City and County, a publication on this area alone would probably be merited.
